Decision-Based Coaching

Healthy. Durable. Fast.

Better coaching starts with better decisions.

What does this runner need today? How much training can they absorb? What should change when the plan and the athlete no longer match?

I help distance coaches work through those questions—with practical tools, examples from the field, and a clear order of priorities: healthy first, durable second, fast third.

A coaching system you can use at practice.

You may have forty runners, one assistant, and very little time between the final school bell and the start of practice. Useful coaching education has to work there.

About

My professional life was in business, but at heart, I’ve always been a coach and a teacher. I’ve worked with high school and collegiate distance runners, from athletes learning to train consistently to state champions and national qualifiers.

Over the years, one question has come to matter more to me than any other. It’s the problem every coach faces: How do you keep kids healthy enough to make them fast?

You can’t answer that with one workout. You answer it through decisions made every day, about real runners on a real team. And you have to keep answering it as those runners grow and change.
